Back Then, Now

My work’s first intention is to express the longing traditions that still flourish today, exploiting beauty of ancestry and daily customs to lifestyle and religion despite corruption, drugs wars, and the commodification of a culture. Through the metropolis the Guadalajara, Mexico City, to rural towns like of Talpa de Allende and Cuatlancillo, in recent years, I photograph what has —with very little effort— remained from early days and even centuries ago and has survived as a prevailing culture. I continually find matters of solitude, security, happiness and freedom that appear throughout countryside backyards and urban landscapes in manners that exemplify traditions of the two.
